DURGA PUJA 

HIndus represent about 10% of the population of Bangladesh, and they mostly live in Old Dhaka in Shakhari Bazar and a few villages outside. Durga Puja is the most important holiday that lasts for a week all over India, and particularly in Calcutta and West Bengal. It is celebrated by many Muslims in Bangladesh as well since their roots extend far back to the pre-Mogul era, when HIndus predominated. A statue of Durga is transported to the Buriganga (Ganges) River where she is submerged. Sweets, drumming, dancing, ornate clothes, and hundreds of statues are dedicated to her worship.
