BANGLADESH (2008-09): FACES
FACES
At first I worried that it would be difficult to take pictures of individual people because this is a strongly (90%) Muslim country. But from the very first day, I discovered congenial folks who not only wanted to talk, but who loved to pose for the camera. There are relatively few foreigners, travelers or tourists of any kind in Bangladesh, so I was treated like a celebrity. People weren't afraid to look you in the eye, and they were flattered to be noticed. Islam considers the foreigner not to be an intruder or a terrorist, but instead, a friend sent by God.
