CAMBODIA (2011): CHAM
The Cham people of Kampong Cham in eastern Cambodia live along the Mekong River and work as fishermen. Their past is tragic, since due to their non - Khmer ethnicity and Muslim religion they were targeted by the murderous Khmer Rouge regime. Over half of the Cham (500,000) died in the horrific genocide in that country. Thirty years later they have also established themselves near the capital city of Phnom Penh.
