INDIA (2010): BANGALORE: AFFLUENCE
In Bangalore I photographed the newest malls, plush with marble, designer boutiques, and multinational brands. In the past twenty years the city has grown and profited from the explosion of hi-tech companies and international outsourcing. Until recently it was a quiet pensioners' town with parks and trees. Now motorcycles race through the streets as young professionals on the fast-track go to work and frequent cafes and night clubs. I met engineers, MBA's and accountants who are beginning to feel the stress and alienation that we in the West know all too well. From here my flight home was filled with recent college grads and computer programmers on their way to training sessions in Dallas.
