VIETNAM WINTER (2016): NINH BINH- RISING DRAGON

It felt like I was in a dream landscape in Ninh Binh. Only a few miles outside of town was the otherworldly scenery of Tam Coc- an inland waterway surrounded by mountains. One morning I walked to the edge of town near the river. A giant cement and coal factory loomed in the background. Nearby, on top of a hill stood a Vietnamese temple dedicated to the deities that protect children.
